Mk6 Brakes Upgrade

Recommended Posts

your best bet if your dropping a 2.0 in is to get the 300mm conversion... i cant remember exactly what you need.. but its somewhere along the lines of..

300mm discs

mondeo mk1?/3? calipers

mondeo mk1?/3? flexys

pads

there is a little work involved but not much...if you do go for rs2k one (like i have, and wished id done the 300mm tbh) you need..

rs2k calipers..

260mm discs..

rs2k flexys (you can use your OE ones.. but its worth replacing them while you have it all off ;) )

and rs2k pads..

which is a simple straight swap...

my rs2k calipers beford fitting them..

and fitted..

As Lee says:

For 300mm conversion -

Focus ST170 300mm discs

mondeo mk3 calipers

mondeo mk1 flexys

RS2000 coversion -

rs2k calipers

260mm discs

and rs2k pads

you can use your standard flexys

which is a simple straight swap..

Cheers Guys

so that rs2k conversion caters for front and back brakes (didnt think there was calipers on the front)

Sorry Mate

I ment, do the front brakes have calipers? or is it just the rear brakes that have them, Sorry if the question sounds dumb, im not well schooled on certain things:)

All cars have calipers on the front and drums on the rear in moist cases

All Escort have discs and calipers on the front, the rear are usually drums apart from the earlier RS2000 which are discs (and callipers)

I was basing it on my mk3 fez, lol,

I know you sell bits on here from time to time,

was wondering if you could get hold of some 40mm lowering springs? also after a white dial clock for the mk6,

Got a few sets of lowering springs, and white clocks mate

£40 for springs, and £5 for white clocks

RS2000 front brakes are more than capable of stopping any escort except a cosworth of course, some people go for bigger focus brakes even though there is no real need, as my brakes are sharp and responsive and stop my car with no issues at all and best of all they are a simple swap over no drilling or anything is needed

Do 325mm discs from Focus RS Mk1 fit Escort Mk6?

Cheers, mates.

focus rs brembo brakes can be made to fit you need to put a 5mm spacer behind the 325 disc and have an adapter bracket made up to correct where the caliper sits that will need to be 12mm plate if memory serves

If I don't use the spacer, it will catch on the caliper mount?

Thanks for the answer.
