What do you mean by 'front wing sections from the Middle of the bump strip down'? Are they repair sections?

Brand new front wings seem to be readily available and comparatively cheap. Would new wings not be simpler?

Only behind the skirts has rotted on the wings .. Iv seen cars with these replacement wings fitted they don't line up great and are made of thinner tin just feel cheap and nasty the best quality ones which are supposed to be as good as fords are 50+ a side when I'm only having from the bump strip down welded in to retain the original upper sections and lines of the car

When Id paid for the lower halts of two genuine ford wings so I wouldn't have to break the words under the bonnet they always look crap when re spot welded on and never line up as good or feel if there made of as good material as the originals .. It has to look good so that's why I'm going from behind the bump strip it would be impossible to tell if it were welded In if there was a mark where it had been repaired the bump strip will hide it but my bodyshop guy is graet at what he does so shoudlnt be able to tell

Understand. Sounds to me the best thing (i.e. cheapest) would be to cut them off a solid set of wings at a breakers. Yours must be in a bad way if any holes are beyond simply platting up. When I dropped my skirts (oo-err) just a couple of blisters that went right through so easy to put right, then plenty of Waxoyl before putting the skirts back. BTW - i used colour coded screw-caps and stainless screws to remount my skirts rather than rivets so I could get them off again without having yet more drilling. Look nice and neat and easy to clean as well.

Actually, thinking about the time and hassle, think I would just pay £80 for a pair of pattern wings and cut the bits I need off the bottoms.

Had paid 20 for a set of wing sections and got nothing but BS about why they hadn't arrived for 6 weeks and an eventual refund want original ford because they feel like there made of a lot better tin getting some elsewhere now tho so should all be good

Yeah they're gone .. Was expecting far worse but the sills are solid the only thing that's gone behind the skirts are the bottoms of the wings so overall I'm pleased with how she's stood up to 17 years of daily use had heard hotrod stories .. A mate said he took some skirts off a mk5 xr3i and the whole sill just came off with it
