I've just taken out a new policy with Flux for £168 on my RS2000.  They were £80 lower than my next lowest quote and almost £300 less than what I paid last year. :)

Unfortunately they wanted well over £600 to insure my GTi.

I hope you told them you were part of 'Fordclub' for the discount?

I sure did Wayne.  Online they wanted £177 but when I phoned them and mentioned Fordclub it dropped to £168.

Only £9 difference but it's a lot better in my pocket than theirs. :P

I've just looked on my policy documents and in the section marked @Car Club Reference' it says 'None' so it looks like they didn't give me a club discout afterall.

If people send me their details Im more than happy to look into quotes, I do have someone chatting to Caroline about some different matters at the moment and wasnt sure if it was answered on that.

Hi Caroline,

If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to look into this to see why we couldn't compete, and if there's anything we can do to reduce costs?

Kind regards,
Dan.

Hi,

If you wanted to PM me some details I can look into why this was.

The first obvious reason I can imagine is age - As a broker our insurers don't allow additional drivers until they are over 25. This is the same with many insurers across the UK unfortunately.

Kind regards,
Dan.

If anybody has had a price that doesn't seem competitive then please let me know and I will look into the price for you.

I would also like to remind you that a recent study showed that 70% of our customers made a saving by talking to us rather than getting a quote online. The reason for this is that many of our insurers don't quote online and we also have flexible discounts and 'flat-rated polices' that we can use in the call-centre too
I wouldn't mind getting some help with mine ;)

Hi,

This will be the reason, unfortunately as we are an insurance broker we do not control the underwriters requirements. We are unable to cover named drivers under the age of 25 unless it is a husband/wife policy for example.

Sorry we cannot be more help.

Kind regards,
Dan.

Having been with Swintons for my Escort GTi (9 years no-claims) at around £300 last year they wanted nearly £400 this year. I said try again and they came back with £260. Adrian Flux couldn't get close to that and then Admiral called (i'd been on Go Compare).

Going on to a multi-car deal (wife has a 2.0 Megane and full n/c) we've been quoted £177 for my GTi and £189 for her Megane. All excesses, benefits and restrictions equal between all quotes. Last year the Megane was £270 or so with Direct Line so to get both full-comp, protected n/c etc. for under £400 is a good deal in my book. Turned down the breakdown cover as it's cheaper direct with Green Flag.
