Ford Escort Van MK5 (94) - Restored in Bronze

Recommended Posts

MK5 Escort Van. Metallic Re-spray and sympathetically modified and restored. £1650

To Summarise: Never worked hard, not too higher mileage, metallic respray, leather seats, cam belt done, reliable, RARE! Good van and classic. £1650, 07762756849

Here I have for sale my Classic Escort Van mk5, known as the “Smiley” the mk5 had a very short production run and was the link step from the boxy 4 and the rounded 6, now the rarest age! As a van, it has excellent load space, road mannerisms, exceptional fuel economy and is possibly one of the easiest things around to drive. Now an appreciating classic its value will only go up and since owning it I have not seen another mk5 van on the road or for sale!

So, this actual van, it started life as a post office van in red (still has the plaque on the slam panel), after its time in the royal mail fleet ended, it was sold to a drugs education group, it was then sold on to someone who used it as a cheap to run car and occasionally for his hobby of fishing. As such it has never had heavy loads or rough loads in the back, and so has arches in great condition. During its lengthy time with the owner previous to me it had BMW M3 Full leather seats in red fitted (worth £400+). He only sold as he had 3 other classic fords and was finding it hard to keep up with the expense of insuring and taxing all. I bought the van partly as an unusual classic and partly to run my business venture of car detailing (high end polishing and waxing) from. Unfortunately, the buisness did not work out but I kept the van as it was a total head turner and an unusual rare classic (also so useful and cheap to run).

In the time ive owned it its had a cam belt and tensioner, water pump, and respray in metallic bronze with colour coded from bumper, it’s also had new wheels (Orion wheels), mesh grill, carpeted load space, new stereo and speakers (speakers are of great quality but are hidden in the factory holes in the door cards). It has a folder of work done, I’m told (and can fully believe) it’s had a full-service history although I can only give receipts for most of this.

The bad bits (I don’t want to waste anyone’s time and don’t want my time wasted), Rear tyres are good but front are just legal, the driver’s door card vinyl has lifted from sun exposure on the very top (you don’t notice so much when in the van but can be seen through the window).

Some of the good bits ive not mentioned, only 110k miles (nothing at all for one of these frequently do over 250k), no smoke and starts first time every time and has no lumpiness and never gets too hot, main problem area of cam belt done, 65+mpg easily achieved, Nicer dash than the 6, so comfortable with leather seats soft suspension easy to drive and good heater and stereo. Never let me down!

I’m wanting £1,650 If you have any questions or would like to come and view call me, James, on 07762756849, if I don’t answer its as I’m a maintenance engineer at an engineering firm and so won’t hear my phone but leave a message and I will get back. It is a great Van and Classic, I’m only selling as I need the space for my latest project. Viewings very welcome as are test drives (with insurance proof). Has got an MOT, I can supply with a full year for additional £50. I have more pictures and a video if you want me to send them. Thanks for looking, James.
