Escort Correct Tyre Sizes

Recommended Posts

Seeing as it keeps coming up in threads I'll put up a quick reference guide that people can check up on instead of keep having to ask.

18" Wheels = 205/35 R18

17" Wheels = 205/40 R17 or 195/40 R17

16" Wheels = 205/45 R16 or 195/45 R16

15" Wheels = 195/50 R15

14" Wheels = 185/60 R14

All of these sizes are perfect for an Escort and shouldnt catch even when when lowered

You can actually get 225/40 on the rear in 17" MK6 Escort

As there is more clearance under the rear arches.

now now jeff dont start throwing spanners in the works we are talking normal upgrades after all :D

lol Steve,its a fact.

Loads more room for fat rubber on the rear.Well a bit :P

Dunno why they were built like that.

I`ve found the front if on a serious 50 or 60 drop needs the Arch liner securer at the top really ramming up high and a bit of grinding,to stop it making contact with the tyre on 205/40/17

Just my observations with the RS Tracker.

i have 16's on mine and they have 195's stretched on at the min and it looks horrid the alloy sticks out a good 15mm from the edge of tyre! aslong as i can get 225's to fit on the rims would these be alryt or would they catch and rub?

s***t they go on with a push aint lowered or anything the were advertised as escort rims

escort rims apart from genuine cosworth ones dont come in 16s as that was mondeo wheels which use 50/55 profile tyres, if its a 15" rim then 50 profile is fine

you cant have bigger wheels or tyres on the front of the car than whats on the rears, just run it with 50 profile tyres what you have but sometimes on full lock or if loaded up in the rear expect a bit of scrubbing, does not happen with 45s thats all
